How did the J9 in OpenJ9 get it’s name? May 01, 2019 at 07:49PM
It has nothing to do with Java 9 and everything to do with history. During the development of ENVY/Smalltalk, a notorious memory corruption issue came up. It took a long time to track down, as everytime the code was visually reviewed the use of a constant for 8K looked fine.
